State, County and Forest Service law enforcement personnel patrol the
Sand Lake Recreation Area on a regular basis.
Some of the most common infractions on the open sand
are:
- Minors riding without supervision
- Under age 18 without helmet
- No OHV decal on truck, car, motorhome
- No fire extinguisher on truck, car, motorhome
- Mufflers above the 97 decibel range for
the Sand Lake Recreation Area
Beginning
Jan. 1, 2008.
Chin straps on helmets—must be fastened on all riders under age
18.
All youth under 16 must always be supervised by an adult over age 18.
Supervision defined as a person who:
1. is
18 years of age,
2. holds
a valid Drivers License,
3. accompanies
the child and is able to provide immediate assistance & direction.
Starting January 1, 2009 — all youth under age
16 must have an ATV Education Card and be supervised by an adult over
age 18.

Eventually, anyone operating
an ATV on Oregon's public land will
be required to have an ATV Education Card. You can learn
